See cup-and-cone. Most bicycle ball bearings consist of a cup-shaped and a cone-shaped race, with the bearing balls rolling between them. The term "cone" usually refers to the cone-shaped nuts on a conventional hub axle. See my article on cone adjustment. DESCRIPTION
